Adjustable strap- preview for Karin ;)

I always get a smile when I see someone who has a purse of mine wearing it every day- seriously makes me feel so cozy inside! Karin has hers strapped around her little body each day we pick up our kiddos from Kindergarten but it is time for a replacement!

She bought these beautiful fabrics and said I could arrange them however I want (woo hoo!) and I set about making a pattern for her needs. In addition to the three small pockets in the front of the bag I also made an elastic pocket on the back side of the bag. The inside is lined with elastic pockets on both sides.

Karin's current purse has a messenger strap so is hands free but this time we made the strap adjustable so she has the option to make it a shoulder bag or a messenger bag. I loved making these straps!!

Karin- I hope all of the details make it a perfect fit for you!....a good enough fit that you want to use it every day just like your other one ;). You are so sweet!! Xoxoxoxoxo to you!!

Diaper bag for Grandma- she needs one too!

I have so many things to post that I've been working on but there will never be enough time to talk about all of them. I feel like superwoman when I just get all of my kid's homework done!!

This diaper bag was for a new grandmother- not the mommy for once ;). She is a co-worker of mine and is my three year old's preschool teacher. The amount of respect and adoration I have for her is immeasurable!!! Our family hasn't adjusted easily to me teaching full time- it is especially hard on the 3 year old- but his teacher has been the calm in the storm. She's amazing and has made him feel like school is his home away from home.

Her new baby granddaughter is one blessed little girl!! Congratulations again Ms. S!

Handmade teacher gifts for Christmas ;)

Mmmmm- my first grade son's teacher is phenomenal. I couldn't be more grateful for her and how much she does for him!! When I thought about a teacher gift I knew I had to make her something special. She carries a pretty cute Vera Bradley bag so I was able to get a little insight on the colors she likes and what her needs would be in a bag by checking out what she already uses ;). I decided on this Bonnie Bag style that I designed for Blossom and Poppy last summer. I hope she gets lots of good use out of it but even if she doesn't, I sure hope she knows how much I adore her!!

The Autumn Handbag

Whew! Finally Halloween costumes are over and I can post handbags again!!!

I designed this pattern several months ago for my girlfriend but I don't know if I ever took pictures of it before I gave it to her. Hers was in earthy grey fabric that reminded me so much of her ;).

I made a few things to donate to my school's fall festival as well as a couple of other schools that I donate to. I got in a zone pouring over my fabric and I made this one even though I didn't need to make anything else ;). There is a pocket that snaps closed on the outside as well as pockets on each wall of the inside. I don't know if I can part with this one......I'm crazy in love with it!!

I finally added a shopping page!

I am slowly moving away from custom work for a variety of reasons but the main one being that I can't stay up until 2am anymore and ignore my husband and kids while I sew like a maniac ;). The Julie Wristlet (with convertable messenger strap)

This is another custom bag from Mary's purse party that I had so much fun making! Julie wanted a wristlet but also needed a messenger strap (genius!!). In order to make sure there wasn't a ton of bulk where the two straps met, I added a loop to the messenger strap that she can slip her wristlet strap through when needed. Then either strap tucks away smoothly!

The Tammy Bag

This is also an Yvette Sling with a few modifications so it's not really a sling anymore. So, lucky for Tammy- she gets a bag named after her ;). Like the Chloe Handbag- it has two straps for larger opening. It also snaps close. The body and the straps have been lengthened and the pockets fall a little lower than the Yvette (still has the hidden cell phone pocket in those front pockets). As well as Chloe's this has a large padded section to hold Tammy's gorgeous camera. Tammy, you were so much fun to talk to!!! I hope you get good use out of your purse!

The Chloe Handbag

I had a super fun purse party with Mary (http://www.blossomandpoppy.com/) while she was in town recently. Her family was adorable and I'll be posting quite a few previews for many of the items ordered at the party. This first one is for Chloe- it's an Yvette Sling with modifications made just for Chloe! Chloe is a beautiful, petite teenager and doesn't need a big purse so she had the body of the bag made thinner. I also made it with two straps instead of the sling strap so the opening was a little more accessible. Inside is a padded, cushy, special place for her camera that will hopefully keep it extra safe but easy to get to and not require an extra bag for her to carry.

I loved all of your choices Chloe! I hope you like how it turned out as much as I do!!

The Mary Sling, exclusively for Blossom and Poppy

Ok- this is my fine tuned, poured it all into this one design. The outside has two large pockets (where the dips are) and then a panel of front smaller pockets for a crazy amount of functionality! The inside is also lined with pockets and is still thin enough to not feel too bulky. It closes with a snap to ensure all of your items stay nice and snug but is not cumbersome to open.

I really love a curvy shaped purse but it can be tricky to make it the most user friendly. I really feel like this one hits it all! I will also make this bag often with a sling strap but this particular one has classic straps with two handles.
